Description of the mandate
This project in Candiac involved replacing an old stone staircase with a modern, durable structure better suited to the property's entrance. The client wanted a custom solution that would modernize the facade's appearance while improving access to the front door.
The intervention required the design of an exterior composite staircase, designed to harmonize with the various forms already present: the brick facade, the foundation and the existing paving.
Technical challenges
For this type of outdoor installation, several precision constraints had to be taken into account:
Alignment with the existing paving , in order to ensure a clean and visually consistent junction.
Work close to the brick facade , requiring precise positioning of the structure to follow existing shapes and maintain a clean visual transition.
Following the foundation , which presented varying shapes to be reproduced in the new staircase.
Custom design of the structure , including the creation of a fan-shaped configuration chosen to improve aesthetics, widen circulation and better highlight the entrance, as well as the addition of a mini upper landing.
These challenges required precise tracing and manufacturing entirely adapted to the site to guarantee strength, aesthetics and ease of use.
Solutions implemented
We built a specially designed treated wood structure to support a fan-shaped staircase comprising five steps and a small upper landing.
The whole thing was then covered with composite boards , chosen for their durability, weather resistance and minimal maintenance.
The layout of the steps was created by following the shapes of the existing materials , allowing the staircase to naturally blend with the brick facade, the foundation and the paving of the ground.
A highly durable finish has been applied to the entire project to ensure a long service life and a clean, uniform appearance.
Project duration
The work was completed in less than a week , including the design, manufacture and complete installation of the staircase.
Final result
The new staircase offers a comfortable, sturdy and aesthetically modern ascent.
It blends harmoniously with the existing shapes around the entrance, while adding a contemporary touch thanks to the composite, a durable and maintenance-free material.
The client appreciated the result as well as the precision brought to the custom manufacturing of each element.
