Description of the mandate
Two separate interventions were carried out, one in Beloeil and the other in Montreal , to completely replace asphalt shingle roofs that had reached the end of their lifespan.
The work has resulted in improved waterproofing, increased durability and a clean appearance for each of the properties.
Technical challenges
Both projects presented several common challenges:
Complete removal of old, heavily deteriorated shingles, sometimes glued in several layers.
Careful demolition to avoid damaging existing structural elements.
Replacement of weakened roof sections (areas of plywood or OSB to be replaced).
Installation of a new roof ventilator on the house in Beloeil.
Each surface required rigorous preparation before the new roofing could be installed.
Solutions implemented
Demolition and preparation
Complete removal of the old asphalt shingles and the existing underlay paper.
Surface inspection, replacement of damaged or swollen plywood/OSB panels.
Thorough cleaning of the surface to obtain a sound and flat base.
Installation of the new roof
Laying the underlay paper (felt or membrane depending on the sections).
Installation of the starting strip at the bottom of the roof.
Methodical installation of the new asphalt shingles, aligned and fixed according to best practices.
Installation of a new roof ventilator on the Montreal property, to optimize attic ventilation.
Secure finishing and final inspection to ensure complete sealing.
Project duration
Each intervention was completed in less than a week , including demolition, structural repairs and the complete installation of the new coating.
