Description of the mandate
In this series of external interventions, Construction BAL was mandated to modernize, secure and restore various access and finishing elements on several residences in Montreal.
Each project had its own particularities and technical challenges, but the objective remained the same: to offer sustainable, safe and visually appealing solutions , perfectly integrated with the existing environment.
Technical challenges
Each of the different interventions had its own specific technical characteristics:
For the exterior staircase in treated wood with aluminum railings:
Replacement of a badly damaged staircase lacking a handrail.
Drilling into fragile exterior ceramic requiring a watertight seal around the anchors.
Precise installation of black aluminum components to achieve a clean and durable alignment.
For the mini deck providing access to the pool:
Construction of a complete platform on uneven terrain.
Alignment of the structure with the above-ground pool for a clean and safe finish.
Construction of a solid door allowing controlled access to the swimming pool.
Combination of treated wood and aluminium bars for a stable and visually consistent structure.
For the repair of the anterior fascia:
Remove only the rotten sections of fascia without touching the rest of the structure.
Working at height, in a confined space partially obstructed by vegetation.
Correcting the alignment of an old and irregular structure.
For replacing the fiberglass step:
Removal of a worn and unsafe step.
Installation of a custom-made step, requiring precise adjustment to the existing structure.
Rapid intervention, but requiring a perfectly stable installation.
Solutions implemented
Exterior staircase
A new treated wood staircase has been built and securely anchored to the existing concrete slab.
The black aluminum handrail was installed using Tapcon anchors and chemical sealing in the ceramic perforations to ensure optimal sealing.
The result: a solid, safe and durable structure.
Mini deck and pool swing set
We created a complete platform in treated wood, with integrated steps, hybrid railings (wood + aluminum) and anchoring on concrete blocks.
A custom-made security gate was manufactured to control access to the pool.
The structure has been adjusted to closely follow the contour of the pool, allowing for seamless integration and convenient access.
Anterior fascia repair
The rotten sections of fascia were removed and replaced with treated wood.
The alignment was corrected and standard fixing applied to obtain a solid base for subsequent painting, to be carried out by the customer.
The work was carried out entirely to scale, despite limited access.
Fiberglass step replacement
The old step was removed and then replaced with a new custom-made fiberglass step.
The installation was carried out quickly, with direct attachment to the existing structure, ensuring stability and durability.
Project duration
Each intervention was completed in less than a week , depending on the nature of the work, including preparation, construction or repair, and finishing.
Final result
All the outdoor facilities have been modernized, made safer and perfectly adapted for everyday use:
The exterior staircase is now solid and elegant, thanks to the combination of treated wood and black aluminum.
The mini deck offers stable and secure access to the pool, with a gate effectively controlling access.
The anterior fascia is now repaired, protected, and ready to last.
The new fiberglass step provides clean, durable and safe outdoor access.
These various interventions significantly improve the functionality, security and overall appearance of the properties, while respecting the specific needs of each client.
