Description of the mandate

This project, carried out in Montreal, comprises two interventions, both geared towards optimizing space and improving interior aesthetics:

• the installation of an elegant folding door designed to conceal storage for the washer and dryer;

• the installation of a new wooden counter above a radiator, in order to visually lighten the room and modernize the existing layout.

In both cases, the objective was to transform utility areas into discreet, clean elements that are better integrated into their environment.

Technical challenges

Installation of the folding door

Even though it was a small project, some aspects required a high degree of precision:

  • Complete door assembly, delivered in separate parts

  • presence of existing moldings that need to be carefully bypassed

  • Minor adjustments were needed to adapt the door to the existing frame, as is common in this type of installation.

Installation of the new countertop above the radiator

For this section, the main challenge stemmed from the previous layout:

  • The old counter was bulky, outdated, and uneven.

  • Slight irregularity on the wall, requiring precise installation and a quarter-round wooden molding to ensure a clean finish.

These elements required special attention in order to achieve a visually light, straight and well-integrated result.

Solutions implemented

Folding door for storage space

We fully assembled the folding door before installation, then made the necessary adjustments to ensure smooth opening and perfect alignment.

This solution now makes it possible to conceal the washer and dryer while improving the overall aesthetics of the room.

New counter above the radiator

After the demolition of the old counter, a prefabricated solid wood shelf was installed and precisely leveled.

Black metal brackets, visible and elegant, were chosen to provide solid support while adding a modern and light touch.

Two additional brackets were added to the center to reinforce the structure.

The whole was finished with a quarter-round transition strip for a durable and neat finish between the ceramic and the wood.

Project duration

The entire project was completed in less than a week , including assembly, installation and finishing touches.

Final result

Both interventions significantly improve the functionality and aesthetics of the spaces concerned.

The folding door now makes it possible to hide the laundry area while offering a clean finish, while the new counter modernizes the room by creating a useful, light and perfectly integrated surface.

As always, the clients appreciated the quality of the finish and the optimization of their space.
