Description of the mandate
This project, carried out in Kahnawake, consisted of renovating and completing an outdoor area around an above-ground pool.
The client wanted a safe, functional and aesthetically pleasing multi-level deck, including convenient access and two sliding doors that could be locked to restrict access to the pool.
Our mandate included correcting and improving a project started by another contractor, part of whose structure was incomplete, poorly leveled, or insufficiently reinforced.
Technical challenges
Taking over an existing project required rigorous planning in order to deliver a solid, consistent result that met the client's best practices and expectations.
The main challenges were:
to work on a partially completed structure without rebuilding everything
strengthen and stabilize the existing sections, adding the missing bracing
working around an above-ground pool, with irregular shapes and numerous reinforcements to work around
to achieve a continuous finish all around the pool, despite a contour that is neither straight nor uniform
to manufacture and install custom-made, lockable exterior sliding doors
create all the multi-level staircases that did not exist initially
correct the levels and alignments left approximate by the previous contractor
Despite these constraints, each element has been precisely adapted to offer a coherent and durable final result.
Solutions implemented
To complete the project, we have:
reinforced the existing structure and corrected the uneven sections
built all the missing platforms
completed the final finishing of the deck
manufactured and installed the treated wood railings
custom-designed privacy panels
manufactured two lockable exterior sliding doors
built the entire multi-level staircase system, which did not exist initially
meticulously adjusted the finishes around the pool to fit its shape, despite the irregularities of the initial structure
The whole thing joins the covered concrete balcony with a treated wood structure already present and attached to the house.
Each intervention has been designed to maximize safety, robustness and ease of use.
Project duration
The project was completed in just under 2 weeks , including reinforcements, construction, finishing and adjustments around the pool.
Final result
The multi-level deck now offers smooth, safe circulation and is perfectly suited for family use.
Guardrails, privacy panels and sliding doors increase safety while improving overall aesthetics.
Despite an initial irregular structure, the final layout presents a uniform, clean and durable finish, truly suited to the pool environment.
