Description of the mandate
This project aimed to breathe new life into a badly damaged shed, replacing only the most deteriorated sections while improving its solidity, access and overall aesthetics.
Technical challenges
Several issues were present from the outset:
A rotten, warped, cracked and poorly fixed exterior wall, requiring precise partial repair.
An old, unusable door, broken, rotten and too light , impossible to restore.
An unstable, dangerous access step, weakened by time .
Work on an old shed , requiring more care to preserve the still sound sections.
Necessary straightening of the damaged wall, including the addition of supports to stabilize the structure.
Precise adjustments for the installation of a custom-made double door , perfectly straight and square.
Uneven ground under the step, requiring a suitable design.
Delicate partial demolition in order not to damage the preserved areas.
Solutions implemented
Exterior wall repair
Complete removal of excessively deteriorated sections.
Reconstruction of the wall using 100% treated wood materials , including plywood (treated plywood).
Adding supports to reinforce the structure and straighten the surface before finishing.
Application of two coats of paint , chosen by the client, to even out the appearance and protect the new wall.
Manufacturing and installation of a new double door
Custom design of a double door in treated wood , entirely manufactured according to the dimensions of the shed.
Installation with robust hinges , ensuring smooth and durable opening.
Reusing the handle from the old door and adding a new latch , improving the strength and security of access.
New access step
Construction of a stable and durable step despite uneven ground.
Adjusting the whole system to ensure safe and comfortable access.
Project duration
The entire intervention was completed in less than a week , including demolition, reconstruction, door installation and painting of the new sections.
Final result
The shed now benefits from a more solid, durable and resistant structure, thanks to the exclusive use of treated materials.
Its appearance has been significantly modernized and standardized , while retaining the sections still in good condition.
Access is now safe and functional , with a sturdy double door and a stable step.
This refurbishment breathes new life into the shed, which becomes practical, aesthetically pleasing and ready to last for many years.
